Dr Johann Lochner grew up near the southern most point of Africa and spent his childhood years in Klipdale and Bredasdorp. He graduated as a dentist from the University of Stellenbosch in 1996. Periodontology was always a field of keen interest and he was awarded with the first prize in Oral Medicine, Periodontology and Crown and Bridgework in his final year.
After graduation Dr Lochner practised and studied in the United Kingdom. This is where he obtained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS). After further studies at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne as a Senior House Officer he was admitted as Member of the Fellowship of Dental Surgeons of the RCS of England. He has been actively involved in the field of Oral Implantology since 2001 and spent a few years in London in private practice.
The prospect of warmer surroundings and being closer to family lured him back from abroad with his wife and two boys in 2004. He completed his Specialist training at UWC and have been practising as Periodontist at Tyger Valley, Hout Bay and London since then.
Dr Lochner has a strong commitment to Continuing Professional Development and lecture at the Implant and Aesthetic Academy, training general practitioners in Oral Implantology. The University of Frankfurt underwrites the course they run. He serves as committee member of the Cape Society of Dental Implantology.
Dr Lochner’s practice philosophy is based on the highest levels of Evidence Based Dentistry and technological advancement to ensure optimal patient care. He is well equipped and experienced to provide patients with the specialist services needed in Oral Implantology, Oral Medicine and Periodontology.
